Tragia is well known in the botanical world a stinging plants. Apart from this, genus also occupies an important constituent of alternative systems medicine as ethnobotany. Among various species Tragia, most studied and experimented T. involucrata. This used for several ethnobotanical uses such cancer, diarrhea, constipation, scorpion bite, rheumatism, whooping cough diabetes. this ayurvedic siddha medicines. Owing to these properties researches has been conducted validate traditional uses, finding out new understanding phytochemical profile. Alkaloids, phenols, terpenoids tannin are present Tragia. Calcium oxalate shellsol responsible property. Various validated its antibacterial, antifungal, cytotoxic, wound healing anti-inflammatory activities. All related occurrence secondary metabolites. However exact lead metabolite pharmacological be identified. Based experimentally proved properties, possesses significant potential on medicinal species.
